Five Royal Spoonbills in breeding plumage feeding near Waione Bridge near the mouth of the Hutt river at Petone.
NZ Birding 
What a fntastic bird. We were told in Okarito that the spoonbills have left. Is there anywhere between Dunedin and CC that we might see them before we fly out 15/3/19? Also, I watched a goose looking bird swimming in crashing surf, bobbing up handily on the other side of waves. It was very far off so I couldn’t make out much other than it appeared pale grey and about goose size. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you for sharing your wonderful photos.
